If you live in Middle Sackville or Lower Sackville and have thought about trying martial arts, you might be hesitating for one big reason: "Am I too old or inexperienced to start?"
At Splice MMSD, we hear this constantly. The image of martial arts has been dominated by young, athletic cage fighters. But the reality of adult self-defence is very different.
We Are Not a "Fight Club" Our program is specifically designed for adults who want personal protection, not a gold medal. We understand that you have a job, a family, and a life. You cannot afford to go to work with a black eye. That is why our training environment is strictly ego-free.
What We Actually Teach
Unlike traditional dojos that focus on memorizing forms (kata), we focus on reality-based martial arts. We take the most effective parts of Boxing, Wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and adapt them for the average person.
Safety First: We use an ecological approach to training. You learn through movement and games, not by getting beaten up.
Real Scenarios: We train for the things that actually happen in Nova Scotia—crowded spaces, de-escalation, and bad situations.
Your First Step You don't need to be in shape to start; you start to get in shape. If you are looking for a safe community to learn life-saving skills, we are right here at the Sackville Heights Community Centre (45 Connolly Rd).
