The Splice Learning Path: From Beginner to Defender
A structured approach to mastering personal protection.
Game Plan A
This is the premier intro level for Splice MMSD. We cover Splice's defensive acronym SELF-E-DEFENSES through lecture and role play games. We then add in some basic hands on physical skills to assist in what we want the most with a violent encounter, to not be there!

Situational Awareness
In this module, you will learn how to analyze people, places and things in all places you enter into. We deliver the information through a combination of power point presentation and supplement throughout the lecture with short roleplay and scenario games.
After completing the module, situational awareness tools will be used throughout the regular rotating class curriculum.

Violence In the Real World
This module will probably be the greatest eye opener for people. We cover in depth real world violence through lecture. After the lecture, we work short scenario games to reflect the material covered in lecture.

Ambush and Adrenal Response
This module covers what a sympathetic nervous system response looks like. That is the freeze/flight/fight response (and fawn/flop/flood sometimes). We also cover how to extract yourself from a freeze response when you are under assault. After this module, you should have a good understanding of your own bodily response to stress responses.

Game Plan B
This module is similar to Game Plan A, but moves onto asking the question, what if I cannot escape? So this module builds on Game Plan A, but focuses on how to control another human or incapacitate them.

Communication and De-escalation
The module has the goal of getting better at de-escalating potentially irate individuals, but does that through the lens of just getting better at communicating. Throughout the lecture, we will work on a bunch of short role play games to best develop the essential skills of communication. The second half of the module specifically covers de-escalating aggressive individuals.

Life After Violence
This is an in depth module of what one can expect after a violent encounter has occurred in their life immediate, short term, and long term.
